Pardus is a Turkish GNU/Linux distro.
Pardus aims to
- provide full Turkish support by making the character structure
compatible to Turkish (UTF-8 compatibility) and by making all the
messages and documents visible to users into Turkish.
- ensure that it is an operating system which can be installed and used
more easily than the existing Linux distributions and other competitive
operating systems.
- to be designed in a modular configuration which can achieve the required flexibility and high performance with a task-based and human-focused approach rather than a tool-based and technology-based one.

In addition, the project provides transitional utilities to assist in creating icon themes for existing desktop environments, such as GNOME and KDE.

Xcerion Internet Operating System/3 (XIOS/3) the clean, carefree, zero-footprint XML-based OS, running within the browser. Since the OS and its applications executes in the browser it also works offline.
The Internet OS boots itself (takes around 3 seconds) and runs in the primary memory of the computer. As soon as the browser is shut down, the OS disappears from the computer.
Using XIOS/3 you never has to think about installing patches, updates or new versions of software again.
The OS updates itself and you can access your applications and documents from any Internet connected computer.
To receive the latest news on Xcerion sign up and apply for a BETA account.
"Xcerion has a possibility to
beat both Microsoft and Google to the punch by delivering the world’s
first 'cloud' Web OS" according to their blog @ http://xidezone.com/
I have just tried CentOS 5 and am a bit disappointed
- The LIVE-CD gives me a blank screen on my IBM Thinkpad
- The INSTALL-DVD still doesn't have a graphical installer
- I asked for a desktop build and (unless I misread something) its only created a root user and I first have to log in as that
I'm afraid I'm going to stick with gNewSense & Xubuntu for the moment at least for my desktops and notebooks !
