The Solaris 10 code can be obtained via a free Web download, obtaining a Solaris 10 media kit through the Sun store, receiving Solaris 10 pre-installed on Sun systems, among other methods. Use of the operating system is governed by the terms of the Software License Agreement (SLA).
In order to use the Solaris 10 Operating System for perpetual commercial use, each system running the Solaris
10 OS must have an entitlement to do so. The Entitlement Document is delivered to you either with a new Sun system,
from Sun Services as part of your service agreement, or via e-mail when you register your systems through the Sun
Download Center.
In addition, if you install the Solaris 10 OS on additional systems, you must register those systems to receive an additional Entitlement Document.
You dont need an Amazon AWS Account, a credit card or even need ElasticFox !
JumpBox will automatically start up an Amazon AMI for you on the cloud and shut it down one hour later !
Try an Amazon EC2 JumpBox with Zenoss for yourself for an hour @ http://www.jumpbox.com/app/zenoss
Just give them your email address your get three URLs:
- Amazon EC2 JumpBox Admin https://ec2-<random-ip-addr>.compute-1.amazonaws.com:3000
- Amazon EC2 JumpBox Zenoss Admin http://ec2-<random-ip-addr>.compute-1.amazonaws.com/jblogin.html
- Amazon EC2 JumpBox Zenoss User http://ec2-<random-ip-addr>.compute-1.amazonaws.com/
Surely this is the future of all software demos for distros, software appliances, virtual machines, etc etc ?
So if you wish to update WebMin VirtualMin you must tick the "Update non-core modules as well" checkbox on the WebMin Module Update screen !
PS VirtualMin is now available as a Amazon EC2 AMI.
A New Moto for System Administrators
I noticed that nj_dodge and ekarjala have created a flickr group ABC - Always Be Capturing possibly inspired from the sales persons favorite moto "Always Be Closing" featured in the film Glengarry Glen Ross !
So following on from recent real world System Administration experience I've thought I'd try to come up with a ABC moto for SysAdmins !
First I thought of:
- Always Be Backing Up
- Always Be Copying
- Always Be Cloning (too virtualisation specific ?)
Unbound is a validating, recursive, and caching DNS resolver.
The C implementation of Unbound is developed and maintained by NLnet Labs. It is based on ideas and algorithms taken from a java prototype developed by Verisign labs, Nominet, Kirei and ep.net.
Unbound is designed as a set of modular components, so that also DNSSEC (secure DNS) validation and stub-resolvers (that do not run as a server, but are linked into an application) are easily possible.
The source code is under a BSD License.
Anonymous Proxy Servers hide the IP address of your PC and thereby reduce unauthorized access to your computer through the Internet. They do not
provide anyone with your IP address and effectively hide any
information about you and your reading interests. Besides that, they
don't even let anyone know that you are surfing through a proxy server.
You can find details of public Anonymous Proxy Servers @
WebMin with the third party WebMinStats module is a great place to start monitoring the performance of your GNU/Linux LAMP system
At least the screenshots for Vidalia / Tor / Privoxy look like they will be fun to use to monitor my System Security and Network Security !
Thank you to insecure.org for linking me to this and also for creating ntop !
