First, there are the "hosts," who are essentially a group of participating social networks. Google wisely dipped into Facebook's pool of competitors by nabbing Hi5, Plaxo, LinkedIn, Orkut, Ning, SalesForce, Friendster, Viadeo, and Oracle right out the gate.
Web 3.0 has arrived ! Ning lets you create your own facebook apps with NO CODING REQUIRED !
Goto Ning http://www.ning.com/
Enter your network name and click Get your own social network
Goto My Networks http://www.ning.com/?view=apps&op=using
Goto manage your network http://<yournetworkname>.ning.com/main/admin/manage
Click http://<yournetworkname>.ning.com/main/facebook/setup

BT
is undergoing a complete transformation. At the heart of this
transformation is our £10 billion 21st century network (21CN)
initiative. An IP-based, multi-service network, 21CN is the driver for
a radical change. As
part of this change, we are kicking off a ground-breaking project,
code-named Web21C. In Phase I, BT has begun to expose a number of
capabilities to developers such as yourselves. We’re in the early
stages. There’s a lot more functionality—powerful, low cost
functionality—to come. We want your help. In this Developer Centre, we introduce the Web21C SDK beta, for .NET (Visual Studio), Java, Python and PHP.
Check out the components of our SDK. Tell us what’s missing. Tell us
what’s bad. Tell us what’s good. Make some free phone calls. http://treeho.us/phoneymashups/index.form;jsessionid=218348C3F7E03B359647234AAEDD2817 http://www.skyscrapr.net/blogs/arcasttv/archive/2006/11/12/445.aspx
