You CAN setup a HP PhotoSmart All-In-One C4500 without using a USB cable or the Windoz CD:
- create an adhoc network on your PC with SSID 'hpsetup'
- press print wifi config button on printer to find out C4500 adhoc ip addr
- navigate to C4500 web page
- click IPV4 Configuration tab and enter your local Wi-Fi network details
- (optionally) click IPV4 Advanced tab and enter a static IP Addr
- change your PC from adhoc to your local Wi-Fi network
A lot of googled webpages seem to suggest you can fix your WVS 6TO4 yellow exclaimation mark device errors
6TO4 Adapter
6.0.6000.16386
This device cannot start (Code 10)
by downgrading to WXP which sounds a bit drastic to me !
However according to ComputerWorld only certain WVS Licences can be downgraded to WXP ! Owners of the OEM editions of Vista Business and Vista Ultimate can downgrade to XP ... but Vista Home Basic and Vista Home Premium owners can't !
M$ TechNet has a few less drastic options:
- Uninstall 6TO4 & reinstall 6TO4
- Use NETSH INTERFACE 6TO4 SET STATE DISABLE to disable 6TO4
- Just ignore it ! You can completely ignore this error, if there isn’t IPv6 network deployed in the environment. The error won’t affect your system.
Finally the best bet may be to 'UPGRADE' to Ubuntu but then your Wi-Fi might stop working instead like mine did !
You just can't win ! Or maybe its time to switch to Sun OpenSolaris ?
Are you looking for an All-In-One Printer Scanner for GNU/Linux then look no further than than the HP Photosmart 4500 series (C4580) or HP OfficeJet 7400 series (L7480) !

Thanks to those nice people at WOM I've just been lent a NOKIA E63 to evaluate for a couple of weeks.
I first tried it with my nearest BT FON Wi-Fi hot spot discovering that FON now have a special .MOBI styled login page that makes it much easier for mobile users to login. Fring 3.36.15 also worked on the E63 now uses native NOKIA SIP services and still provides access to Skype, GoogleTalk & other VOIP and SIP services.
NOKIA have addressed a lot of the issues with the E61i now using a "standard" USB connector, "standard" 3.5mm audio connector and improved keyboard layout.
So now its an easy choice !
If I needed a mobile with GPS I'd buy a 6220c and if I needed WiFi,SIP,VOIP I'd buy a E63 !

Yesterday I phoned one of my broadband suppliers and they said they were "sorry" for the 24 hr outage but that I couldn't cancel my contract until December but would I like a "free" Wi-Fi modem router worth £40 ?
(Stupidly) I slept on the deal and phoned them back today only to told they "never" gave away Wi-Fi routers but they could offer me 25p compensation and that I could "cancel" my account at any time !
I'll be recording my calls for QA purposes from now on ! So make sure you listen for that beep !
Devicescape is a web service that automatically connects your wireless
devices to Wi-Fi hotspots wherever you go — cafés, airports, hotels,
your home, and even your friends' homes! With Devicescape, you can forget about complicated wireless settings, usernames, passwords, and long security codes.
FON Raises $9.5 Million and renames hotspots from FON_AP to FON_FREE_INTERNET
However there seems to be a LOT of debate about the new FON_FREE_INTERNET name as its only free for reading your GoogleMail or for 15 minutes of "internet" time !
